Mad for Macarons

The perfect dessert or wedding favor

Forget the flour-less Passover dessert, I’m talking about the rainbow cookie sandwiches that are so charming, you’ll find one in almost every issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

The most desired macarons are probably from Lauduree in Paris—they recently opened a New York City location—because they are delicious and their packaging is beautiful. Unfortunately, they cost more than you probably budgeted for so here’s a list of some stateside bakers that you should check out if you want macarons as your wedding favor.

Most macaron bakers will make a variety of flavors including chocolate, coffee, fruit flavors (raspberry, lemon, orange and apricot), pistachio and cinnamon. Contact each bakery to learn what flavors they offer, how they are sold (individually or in sets) and their pricing.

As a dessert you can place them on tiered stands or platters on each table or add them to your dessert buffet. For favors, package them in small boxes or cello bags tied with a coordinating ribbon. Macarons are very colorful and can easily coordinate with your wedding’s color palette.
