If you’ve ever dreamed that your wedding day could be graced by a celebrity’s presence, Fran Drescher’s “Love is Love” Gay Marriage Contest is for you. The fact that its moniker is the same as our traveling gay-friendly wedding show made us like it even more.
The star of TV Land’s “Happily Divorced” is coming to New York to officiate the marriages of three lucky gay couples on March 6. Drescher received her minister license in order to perform these special ceremonies.
The date signifies the kick off of the second season of “Happily Divorced,” premiering Wednesday, March 7, at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. “Happily Divorced” is inspired by the real-life story of sitcom favorite Fran Drescher (“The Nanny”), and revolves around Fran, a Los Angeles florist who finds out after 18-years of marriage that her husband is gay. Unable to sell the house with the economy tanking, she and her gay ex-husband Peter (John Michael Higgins, “Best in Show”) must continue to live together happily divorced as they both re-enter the dating world.
The contest is underway and end on 11:59 p.m. ET on Feb. 20. To enter, head to the contest's Facebook page and either submit a video (not more than 120 seconds in length) or submit a photo and 350-word essay, in which you tell their own love story, explain how your relationship best represents the idea that “love is love” and why you want to be married by Fran. The contest is open only to residents of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
