Do You Have the Time?: 7 Watch Alternatives for the Engagement Ring

When it comes to engagements, the tricky deciding factor is always the hunt for the perfect ring. Harry Winston, Tiffany’s and David Yurman become your safari grounds. Think: eye on the prize, right? Well, what IF your fiancé-to-be isn’t a ring guy or gal? A recently-engaged friend of mine suggested wrist bling instead of ring bling. Not a ring guy, his reasoning was, “It doesn’t make sense for me to get a ring I’ll wear for less than a year.” Why I dig the idea? Symbolism. Marriage takes time, effort, balance and management, like any other relationship. A watch can last you forever and still have the same importance as a ring. Grooms- and brooms-to-be, this may be the right way to go. I’m a firm believer that if you’re going to take your search down this route, every cent you’d put into the ring should go towards the timepiece. Love can’t be bought but time sure can.
