After six months of chatting, their first date sealed the deal: it just felt right. Everything unfolded easily and organically from there.In 2021, Marc proposed during a photoshoot for their Christmas card. \u201cHe took out the ring box, and I was so surprised I don\u2019t even remember saying yes!\u201d says Bastian. \u201cBut Marc is sure I did,\u201d he adds with a laugh.After their student days in Passau, they moved to Munich for work and then back to Passau at the beginning of 2023 with their dog Pike.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A Thoughtful, Design-Forward CelebrationBastian and Marc\u2019s wedding took place in late October, with a ceremony in a stunning old industrial building next to their reception venue, Tonwerk Dorfen. The ceremony space was warm and romantic, filled with candlelight as the sun set. A live acoustic duo performed four songs on guitar, violin, and keyboard, while the grooms exchanged personal vows in front of their loved ones. There were no religious elements, just a heartfelt ring-warming ceremony and touching words from both their mothers.The design was minimalist and modern with a gentle color palette of greens, nudes, whites, soft pinks, and blacks. Floral arrangements were intentionally simple on the reception tables, with more opulent displays during the ceremony, curated by Die Blumenoase.Their goal? To keep the day as stylish as it was approachable. \u201cWe wanted it to feel relaxed, not stiff or overwhelming,\u201d they shared.\u00a0\u00a0Pride, Subtly Woven InIn keeping with German wedding tradition, Bastian and Marc offered an afternoon “coffee and cake” reception following the ceremony. Guests were treated to a stunning sweet table served from a vintage Ape vehicle, accompanied by hearty finger foods passed as a flying buffet. The pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance was their wedding cake by Sweet Diva, which had a surprise rainbow pride flag inside\u2014a quiet but powerful nod to their identity and joy.Rather than traditional guest favors, the couple offered something deeply meaningful: guests received wooden tokens to place into one of three boxes, each representing a charity close to the grooms\u2019 hearts\u2014environmental protection, a dog shelter, and a queer advocacy organization. After the wedding, Bastian and Marc made donations based on the guests’ choices, rounding up the totals themselves. \u201cIt felt so right to give back on our big day,\u201d they shared.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Celebration, Connection, and Ice CreamDinner at Moglis Tonwerk was a culinary experience, with a focus on quality food and shared connection. Afterward, the grooms surprised guests with a build-your-own ice cream bar, complete with toppings and sprinkles\u2014a playful and sweet ending to the meal.Their first dance was set to \u201cI\u2019m Yours\u201d by Oleta Adams & Jos\u00e9 James\u2014an intimate, soulful moment that set the tone for the dance party that followed, spun by Event24Muc.Throughout the day, one thing stood out above all: the couple\u2019s deep care for everyone around them. Every vendor received a thoughtful bag of sweets, a handwritten card, and a small gift. \u201cThey were more than just vendors to us\u2014they became part of our celebration,\u201d the couple shared.Words of Wisdom from the GroomsBastian and Marc have some advice for other LGBTQ+ couples planning their weddings:\u201cWe believe the most important thing is to find vendors you can trust and with whom you feel completely comfortable right from the first conversation. There has to be an instant click. We did some pre-searching on Google and Instagram for planners who explicitly cater to LGBTQ+ couples, which gave us a solid starting point. Follow your heart when choosing the right people and venue. That way, you can truly enjoy the planning process and have fun with it.\u201dThey also encourage vendors to be visible in their support:\u201cIf your website or social media channels show that you’re open to working with LGBTQ+ couples, that’s a huge help in making a choice. It immediately weeds out those who might not want to work with LGBTQ+ couples, saving time and stress on both sides. In general, we always feel comfortable when we’re treated just like any other couple.\u201dWhile they experienced moments of uncertainty and the subtle fear of rejection early on, choosing the right planner changed everything. Their planner, Mrs. Right, not only helped them organize the day but also connected them with affirming vendors who felt like chosen family by the end.A Wedding That Felt Just Right\u201cWhen you step away from traditional and classic wedding concepts, you realize a whole new world of possibilities opens up. We were incredibly lucky with our wedding team, who tailored every detail to suit us perfectly.
