In an exclusive interview with CNN, Brewer did not indicate any intention of vetoing or approving the the measure. “I can assure you, as always, I will do the right thing for the state of Arizona,” she stated.Some Arizona Republicans who know her well have stated that they believe her comments are indicative of rejecting the bill. Chuck Coughlin, Brewer’s longtime political advisor, believes that the bill simply isn’t something that Brewer feels is important enough to move forward with. “It’s been her proclivity in the past to focus on the priorities she wants them [the legislature] to accomplish, and this was clearly not part of her agenda,” he stated.Another person close to the governor agreed with Coughlin. “She doesn’t want to take any actions that could jeopardize the economic momentum we’ve seen here in Arizona,” they said.Kansas and Tennessee have recently been in the spotlight due to similar situations with similar bills.
