Eastwood described his stance on Ellen this week, gruffly saying, “It’s part of the Libertarian idea … just leave everybody alone.” He then went on to note, “The condition of society right now, with the high unemployment rates and the tremendous debt we’re increasing and the government spending, we’d think there’d be [many more worthy issues] to think about [rather] than worrying about gay marriage.”And while it’s his prerogative to believe that taxes and national debt are more important aspects to vote on than civil rights, his statement is a nice reminder that not all Republican-voting individuals are the Santorums, Bachmanns, Romneys and Ryans of the world. That, with the right people leading the party, ones with a more moderate, egalitarian mindset, it’s possible to have a Republican platform that isn’t so driven by hate. Unfortunately, that’s not going to be this election …And this isn’t the first time Eastwood has proclaimed his point on gay marriage. In 2011, he told GQ magazine, “I don’t give a f**k about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We’re making a big deal out of things we shouldn’t be making a deal out of. … Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want.”Unfortunately, the party he’s supporting this election doesn’t agree.Watch the video here:"},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
