That\u2019s why she wasn\u2019t suspicious when I needed to leave early for our March Los Angeles vacation for \u201cwork\u201d, or when I avoided providing her flight information ahead of the trip. She was SHOCKED when, while getting ready on Saturday morning to head to the airport, she was interrupted by 10 of her best friends with breakfast and mimosas!Breakfast at our apartment kicked off a packed \u201cTiffany Proposal Tour.\u201d Over bagels and lox, Tiffany and our friends answered trivia questions about our relationship, such as \u2018who kissed who first\u2019 and \u2018what embarrassing thing happened in Dallas?\u2019 A couple of disposable cameras caught the fun before she was ushered into a private car, and speeding on her way to Washington Square Park where we once spent hours talking on a park bench. There, another group of friends was waiting with sidewalk chalk where the girls drew their favorite female anatomy (NSFW!) and wrote fun messages like \u201cTiffany is getting married!\u201d It was a short walk over to our favorite Bar Sardine, where an early-in-the-game date over cocktails and burgers helped seal the deal. A new group of friends was waiting with drinks and cheers (plus a famous burger!). The Manhattan portion of the day wrapped up all the way uptown in Harlem, at our #1 favorite restaurant Oso. Her business school friends were waiting for her with tacos and tamales, swapping stories of what she would miss from her single days.She knew she was headed to the airport for LA, but was shocked when two of her best friends got in the car and headed to the airport with her! Excited for what was coming, the three headed to the airport bar to celebrate, almost MISSED the flight and sprinted onto the airplane with moments to spare. They were, SOMEHOW, on their way out to Los Angeles!Meanwhile, I had been at her mom\u2019s house with Blaire (of Sparkles and Vintage) all day, setting up the proposal and surprise engagement party for 50 of our closest friends and family. People had flown in from all over the country to be part of this special day with us! Finally, the space was transformed, the guests had arrived, the cocktails were flowing and the tacos were on the grill. All that was missing was Tiffany on the way from the airport, where she was picked up by more friends and rushed over to her childhood home.Outside the house, I was waiting under a huge wall display, with the words \u201cWill You Marry Me?\u201d framed by flowers, candles and string lights. When Tiffany pulled up, she was shaking so hard she could barely get out of the car. The proposal moment was perfect, but the surprises were far from over. I led Tiffany into her backyard, where she was amazed to find Mudbug Brass Band playing our song (\u201cThe Way You Do The Things You Do\u201d by The Temptations), and all of our friends and family with sparklers, waiting to congratulate us. The scene was nothing short of magical.We spent an amazing night eating incredible tacos, drinking our favorite cocktails and being greeted by family as a couple for the first time. We even managed to get a few dances in! At the end of the night, revelers went home with our special party favors \u2013 our favorite bottle of wine with a custom label celebrating our engagement!When the party wrapped up, Tiffany and I headed over with our parents and siblings to a hotel in LA, where we spent a few well-earned days lounging by the pool and celebrating.
