Celebrity hair stylist Daniel Martinez covers the coiffure trends that rocked the runways and gives us his take on the latest lock looks for grooms and brooms.The hair scene at this fall’s menswear shows revealed stiffer movement, longer tresses and a sense of structure, with just a dash of vintage. Celebrity hairstylist Daniel Martinez of the coveted Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon in Los Angeles gives us his expert insight into the five trendiest do’s of the season and how you can recreate these fashion-forward looks for your big day.Domir Doma90s Skater ChicInfluenced by leading fashion designers Rick Owens and Domir Doma, this aggressive look rocked the fall 2011 runways. It’s filled with visual contrasts created from buzzed sides and long lengths throughout the top. “This allows it to have a disconnected style, not such a blended vibe,” says Martinez. Finish with a matte cream-based texturizer for a roughed-up feel.BalenciagaSophisticated School BoyNot your father’s haircut, but it’s absolutely inspired by your grandfather’s. This vintage 1950s barbering cut is off set with a textured side parting. “The key to this look is its manageability and looseness,” says Martinez. “Not stiff, but more of an effortless style achieved by using sculpting pomade and dry shampoo.” All you need is a dirty martini to look utterly dapper.VersaceRefined ShineModels who walked for design houses such as Versace, McQueen, and Bottega Veneta were shining from more than their accessories. Glinting off of the runway lights was a perfectly sculpted, side-parted, high gloss style. Recreate this look by adding a dollop of pomade, which does double duty by molding and adding shine, giving new life to the wet look in this sophisticated version.Salvatore Ferragamo Beach Boy BeautyIf the gel feeling is too much for you this season, relax. Take inspiration from Salvatore Ferragamo, D&G, and Pringle of Scotland, who all had their models in mid-length hair. “Let your natural wave-like textures cascade down to your shoulders and brush forward to create a subtle side part,” says Martinez.Phillip LimPompadour PrimpingIf you don’t want to add length to the bottom, opt for the top! Phillip Lim brought back the vintage pompadour hairstyle for his fall menswear collection. “Again some lacquer wouldn’t hurt anyone,” notes Martinez. To recreate this look at home, slick sides with pomade and then add the rest of the product on top, working from back to front. Using a comb, sculpt hair back on each side (think back to the Fonz in old episodes of Happy Days). Keep hair right to the scalp, and then comb hair diagonally from one side while lifting up with your comb, giving it height. A final flick near the forehead finishes it off. "},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
