They get ready separately and if they’ve chosen not to do a first look before the ceremony, often don’t see each other until the ceremony begins. Immediately following the ceremony is such a whirlwind of activity and events that sometimes it seems they don’t really get to spend any time with just each other until the getaway car whisks them away at the end of the night.By contrast, my favorite part of Len and Jon’s wedding was just how much time they spent with each other throughout the day. When we arrived that afternoon to begin photographing the day I explained that we would split up to photograph them getting ready separately before doing some individual portraits (because that’s how we usually do it) and Len asked if they could get ready together because it would be more authentic to them. They answer was of course, a resounding “yes!” on my part. I loved that they got dressed with each other and at nearly any point throughout the reception if I wanted to find one I had only to look for the other. My very favorite thing about their day though, was that they chose to walk down the aisle into their new life together as couple. Which really is what being married is all about. Choosing your person and your lives together, as a couple, every single day.Len and Jon, thank you so much for allowing me to witness and document your beautiful connection.
