The public has fallen into deep discussions revolving around gun, mental illness and education reform. Our world has been rocked and those on the other side of the country have felt the impact from the Sandy Hook shootings. The stories of the victims have broken our hearts, and has us asking the loaded question, \u201cWhy?\u201dAccording to James Dobson, founder of the Family Research Council and Focus on the Family, it\u2019s because we\u2019re suffering the wrath of God, in part, due to country\u2019s evolution on same-sex marriage. Dobson tells his flock:\u201cOur country really does seem in complete disarray. I’m not talking politically, I’m not talking about the result of the November 6 election; I am saying that something has gone wrong in America and that we have turned our back on God.I mean millions of people have decided that God doesn’t exist, or he’s irrelevant to me and we have killed 54 million babies and the institution of marriage is right on\u00a0the verge of a complete redefinition. Believe me, that is going to have consequences, too.And a lot of these things are happening around us, and somebody is going to get mad at me for saying what I am about to say right now, but I am going to give you my honest opinion: I think we have turned our back on the scripture and on God almighty and I think he has allowed judgment to fall upon us. I think that’s what’s going on.\u201dIt\u2019s disgusting to use the tragedy, one that took the lives of 20 sweet, innocent children and eight brave adults, as a platform to preach vitriolic campaigns, before the grief-stricken families have even laid their babies to rest.This isn\u2019t about a shooting or same-sex marriage. This is about people. People who have a Christmas tree with packages that will remain unwrapped under it. People who now have empty bedrooms that look dark even in the light of day. People who had a part of them taken away that day. To disrespect the mourning for his own selfish sermon agenda, in an attempt to rid the world of same-sex marriage, is a direct insult to the victims.
