When a YouTube video featuring a montage of photos from Nathanael Gay (who is a member of the historically black fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi) and Robert Brown\u2019s September wedding went viral, it fueled a comment controversy.Beyond homophobia, many commenters had an issue with it being a Kappa wedding, as the fraternity\u2019s crimson and cream colors were themed throughout.One commenter writes, \u201cTo each his own, love who you want to love. HOWEVER, this is really a punch in the gut to show Kappa Alpha Psi in a position that, majority, would not appreciate. As a whole we stand for brotherhood but not for gay individuals to infiltrate our fraternity and feel that it’s OK. Once again, love who you want but it would be wise for you not to wear any items showing that you’re a Kappa.\u201dThe negative responses do not help compress the notorious stigma against gays in the African American community, even with support from the NAACP and celebrities such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Oprah.
