On the day of Christmas Eve,\u00a0I\u00a0swiftly exited the apartment with our\u00a0Christmas tree, presents and stockings in tow while\u00a0Thomas\u00a0was in the shower.\u00a0Thomas\u00a0was led to the Jefferson Memorial, despite poorly provided directions, and met\u00a0me\u00a0there while the snow began to fall.While it was hard being away from our\u00a0families, we\u00a0realized that all we\u00a0truly needed was one another.\u00a0I\u00a0got down on one knee and proposed on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. After hearing a big yes, the night was spent at the Willard Hotel where the room was set up with the missing presents, tree, stockings and candles for a very special Christmas.
