Chris ChristieWhile both houses called it a top priority, Speaker Sheila Oliver said it would be the first time Assembly Democrats have been canvassed.Any gay marriage bill\u2014which needs 41 Assembly votes to pass\u2014faces New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie\u2019s inevitable veto. There are enough Assembly Democrats to pass the legislation with no GOP support. However, not all Democrats champion the bill.Only about half the votes\u201421 to be exact\u2014are needed to secure New Jersey Senate passage. Assembly and Senate committees sent the bill to the floor.
