Victoria\u2019s Cake Cottage owner Victoria Childress, said she couldn\u2019t bring herself to help Trina Vodraska and Janelle Sievers make their wedding day special, according to care2.com.KCCI.com reported Childress\u2019 Christian convictions kept her from fulfilling Sievers and Vodraska\u2019s request.\u201cI didn’t do the cake because of my convictions for their lifestyle,\u201d Childress added. \u201cIt is my right as a business owner. And it’s not to discriminate against them.\u201dSaying it\u2019s not discrimination doesn\u2019t make it so, according to the state of Iowa. The Iowa Civil Rights Act forbids business owners from refusing service based on someone\u2019s sexual orientation.Sievers and Vodraska didn\u2019t really know how to respond to the situation.“I don’t think either one of us knew what to say. We were just shocked,” Sievers said.Vodraska said she felt degraded.“It was like she chastised us for wanting to do business with her,” Vodraska said. “I know Jesus loves me. I didn’t need her to tell me that. I didn’t go there for that. I just wanted to go there for a cake.”Despite the uproar, Childress told the UPI she\u2019s holding fast to her Christian belief.“It is my right as a business owner.
