That\u2019s made Schneiderman the first attorney general to do so, according to the Huffington Post.  “Because the Democratic Party has a noble history of fighting for the human and civil rights of all Americans, it is time to hold true to this record and add to the Party’s legacy by supporting the freedom to marry for all couple,” Schneiderman\u2019s letter, in part, said to the Platform Drafting Committee. According to Freedom To Marry, which leads the “Democrats: Say I Do” campaign, Schneiderman plans to prod his colleagues across the nation to follow suit. Schneiderman\u2019s challenged the Defense of Marriage Act\u2019s constitutionality in July. He said DOMA violates gay and lesbian couples\u2019 right to equal protection.
