The anti-gay speech began as one would expect, stating that homosexuality goes against the word of God. Reverend Snider continues, \u201cIt\u2019s not that we don\u2019t care about homosexuals, but it\u2019s that our rights would be taken away \u2026 for we\u2019d be forced to go against our personal morals.\u201dToward the end of his speech, Reverend Snider stumbles over his words in a theatrical twist to reveal that he\u2019d borrowed his argument \u201cfrom the wrong century.\u201dHe states, \u201cIt turns out, what I\u2019ve been reading to you this whole time are direct quotes from white preachers from the 1950\u2019s and the 1960\u2019s, all in support of racial segregation.\u201d He simply replaced racial integration with gay rights, in an ironic way to show how marriage equality is but another case in the fight for human civil rights. He closes his speech by asking the city council to \u201cstand on the right side of history.\u201dThe video of Reverend Snider\u2019s speech recently went viral and has garnered over two million views.
