They got engaged a year after they started dating, around Valentine’s Day 2014. This couple made history by becoming one of the first same-sex couples to get married in Alabama!\u00a0FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER:\u00a0Brett and Eric share a beautiful love story. Because Alabama didn’t recognize same sex marriages at the time, their plan was to elope to NYC and have a small get-together with close friends and family later. Luckily for them and so many other couples, Alabama’s laws changed, and so did their plans! They applied for their marriage license the first day same-sex couples could on February 9th and planned on getting married four days later, that Friday the 13th! #ftg-1717 .tile .icon { color:#ffffff; }#ftg-1717 .ftg-items .loading-bar i { background:#fff; }#ftg-1717 .ftg-items .loading-bar { background:#fff; }#ftg-1717 .tile .icon { font-size:12px; }#ftg-1717 .tile .icon { margin: -6px 0 0 -6px; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block .text-wrapper span.text { font-size:12px; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block .text-wrapper span.title { font-size:14px; }#ftg-1717 .tile { background-color: transparent; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block .text-wrapper span.text { color: #ffffff; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block .text-wrapper span.title { color: #ffffff; }#ftg-1717 .tile .ftg-social a { color: #ffffff; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block { transition-timing-function:linear; }#ftg-1717 .tile .caption-block { transition-duration:0.25s; }#ftg-1717 .tile .tile-inner:before { background-color: #000000; }#ftg-1717 .tile .tile-inner:before { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); }#ftg-1717 .tile.ftg-preload { transform: scaleY(1) scaleX(1) translate(0px,0px) rotateX(0deg) rotateY(0deg); }#ftg-1717 .tile.ftg-preload { transition: all ease-out 0.5s, opacity linear 0.5s; }#ftg-1717 .tile img.item { transition-duration: 0.25s; }jQuery('#ftg-1717 img.item').removeAttr('src');jQuery(document).ready(function () {setTimeout(function () {jQuery('#ftg-1717').finalTilesGallery({minTileWidth: 250,margin: 10,loadMethod: 'sequential',nonce: '5a66d1c7c7',galleryId: '17',setupFilters: true,layout: 'final',debug: false,gridSize: 25,disableGridSizeBelow: 800,allowEnlargement: true,imageSizeFactor: [ [4000, 0.9],[1024, 0.8],[768, 0.7],[640, 0.6],[320, 0.5]],selectedFilter: 'n-a'});jQuery(function () {(function () {var rel = '';jQuery('#ftg-1717 .ftg-lightbox').click(function (e) {rel = jQuery(this).attr('rel');jQuery('#ftg-1717 .ftg-current').removeClass('ftg-current');jQuery('#ftg-1717 [rel=\"'+rel+'\"]').addClass('ftg-current');});})();jQuery('#ftg-1717 .tile a.ftg-lightbox').prettyPhoto({});});}, 0);}); Brett and Eric\u2019s family came together and put their hearts into the planning to pull off the perfect backyard. We took portraits at Monte Sano State Park, just a few minutes up the road from Eric’s mother\u2019s home, where the wedding was held. Rosalyn, a friend of Brett’s from college, performed a heartwarming ceremony. Even their cake was donated from a friend.It was a pleasure shooting this special day and I am incredibly grateful to have made history in the state of Alabama! VENDORS\u00a0Photography: j.woodbery photographyVenue: Private residence, Alabama "},{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org\/","@type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Romantic Backyard Alabama Gay Wedding","item":"https:\/\/equallywed.com\/romantic-backyard-gay-wedding\/#breadcrumbitem"}]}]
