After last week’s emotional musical episode, it does appear that Callie is going to make it\u2014and she accepted Arizona’s proposal with a simple and sweet “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you” with her doting girlfriend at her hospital bedside. I don’t know about you, but I was crying the entire time. I was so moved by the love between them, worried about their baby, and of course, thrilled to be seeing their relationship play out on a major television show. But some people aren’t so thrilled, and, as first reported by The Advocate, one fan Tweeted to creator Shonda Rimes (pictured above) today asking her why she “panders to the gay\/lesbian community.” She added that it was “fine. But straight people don’t suck, you know.”Rhimes said she and her writers are not pandering to any community. She later added:“Isn’t  love universal? Isn’t that the point? That you can watch a straight  couple in love or a lesbian couple in love and what you see and feel is  the LOVE? How is that pandering? Maybe I’ve been pandering to straight  couples all this time. Another thing: one of the reasons I cast the show  the way I did is because I like to turn on the TV and see people who  look like me living in a world of diversity. I’m betting there’s a  lesbian girl out there who likes to turn on the TV and see people who  love like her too.”The wedding episode is set to air in May.
