My dedication to human rights makes it easy to forego those, admittedly delicious, buttermilk biscuits and perfectly crispy chicken, but those misspelled signs featuring the fast food in all its glory still taunt me from the highways. So I was exceptionally happy when I came across chef Hilah Johnson on The Advocate. She has created a Chick-fil-Gay sandwich, which has all of the tastes of a CFA sandwich, without the hate. Bonus: you can make in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to enjoy it on (gasp!) Sundays. Here’s what you’ll need:1 boneless, skinless chicken breast1\/4 cup pickle juice (sour dill is my favorite)1 egg1\/4 cup milk1\/2 cup flour1 tablespoon powdered sugar1\/2 teaspoon paprika1\/2 teaspoon salt1\/4 teaspoon black pepper1\/4 teaspoon garlic powder1\/4 teaspoon celery salt1\/4 teaspoon dried basilOptional: up to 1\/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper for a spicy sandwichOil for frying (about a cup)Read the recipe instructions here.Granted, you likely won’t be frying up your own chicken for the wedding, but pass along to your caterer or serve at the rehearsal dinner for a tongue-in-cheek nod to marriage equality and a big “screw you” to Chick-fil-A. We like how that tastes.
