One of their moms cooked all the food and the other baked the cakes. The attendants, whom they called &#8220;Handy Helpers,&#8221; wore anything they wanted, and a friend of theirs officiated.<\/p>\n<p>The couple describes the celebration as low-key, but filled &#8220;with lots of colors and love&#8221; as well as &#8220;touches of vintage and punk feels.&#8221;<\/p><div class=\"adsanity-rotating-ads ad-aligncenter\" data-ids=\"81704,81705\" data-timer=\"10\" data-align=\"aligncenter\" data-max-width=\"0\">\n<div id=\"ad-81704\" class=\"ad-840x90 adsanity-840x90 aligncenter adsanity-aligncenter\"\n><div class=\"adsanity-inner\"><iframe scrolling=\"no\" style=\"border:none;\" src=\"https:\/\/equallywed.com\/adsanity-ad\/81704\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"_3LSH-c1WOe1J4X-R0dPL-f \">\n<h2 class=\"_3tQZFZsC7GkDRzmw0cxOcP\">What advice would you give to engaged LGBTQ+ couples?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"_3tQZFZsC7GkDRzmw0cxOcP\">If your family is part of your wedding, don\u2019t back down from what makes YOU feel good. Wear all the makeup you want to, wear a suit, put on those high heels, include that bop of a song that makes your family uncomfortable. It\u2019s your day, and you don\u2019t have to answer to anyone else.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_3LSH-c1WOe1J4X-R0dPL-f \">\n<h2 class=\"_2qNA6PhIGbaO-JGaGnA3Ta\">What advice do you have for vendors and venues working with LGBTQ+ couples?<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p class=\"_3tQZFZsC7GkDRzmw0cxOcP\">Always have more inclusive language. Websites where I see only \u201cBride &amp; Groom\u201d labeled on things makes me feel unseen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_3LSH-c1WOe1J4X-R0dPL-f \">\n<h2 class=\"_2qNA6PhIGbaO-JGaGnA3Ta\">What challenges did you face as an LGBTQ+ couple planning your wedding?<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p class=\"_3tQZFZsC7GkDRzmw0cxOcP\">While planning our wedding, we were both cis\/het passing. We often had to explain over and over again how we were both nonbinary and use they\/them pronouns. People either seemed to think we weren\u2019t queer enough or we were too queer for them to feel comfortable. It was important to us that people knew we were a queer couple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_3LSH-c1WOe1J4X-R0dPL-f \">\n<h2 class=\"_2qNA6PhIGbaO-JGaGnA3Ta\">Did you encounter any pleasant surprises as an LGBTQ+ couple planning your wedding?<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p class=\"_3tQZFZsC7GkDRzmw0cxOcP\">Our friends were wildly supportive\u2014and not just the ones we expected. Most of them, if not all, were amazing.<\/p>\n<p><a
