Some say that married life is one of the most exciting things you will do ever do. As you commit yourself to your one and only, kick off your thrilling life journey (after the wedding, of course) with a little direct adrenaline. Adventure activities are perfect for the honeymoon, even for those who are not always so brave. These unforgettable experiences will let you unleash your inner daredevil while bringing you closer than ever with your true love.
TANDEM BUNGEE JUMPING WITH AJ HACKETT, NEW ZEALAND
What could be a better way to celebrate leaping into your new life together, literally? AJ Hackett Bungy is the perfect stop on a New Zealand honeymoon for any thrill seekers. Spanning across the country, AJ Hackett offers four bridges to jump from, ranging from the Auckland at 40 meters (131 feet) to the Nevis at 134 meters (440 feet). When jumping from the bridges over water, you can choose if you want to touch the water or become fully emerged. For an extra buzz, night jumping is also a possibility. Just grab your honey, hold on tight and enjoy the fall.
ROCK CLIMBING AT ARIZONA CLIMBING AND ADVENTURE SCHOOL
If the Wild West is your honeymoon destination, the Arizona Climbing and Adventure School can provide a unique experience for an outdoors honeymoon trip. Any couple can participate in a wilderness adventure through the school, which includes rock climbing, bouldering and canyoneering. Beginner one-day courses are available for those who want a shorter experience in the great outdoors.
SCUBA DIVING IN ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
Take (another) plunge with your hubby and try scuba diving in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Blue Island Divers can lead you on an adventure through the coral reefs or through shipwrecks in the beautiful Caribbean waters of St. Thomas. Couples can dive on the first day of instruction, or for those who have dove before, this program can count toward your Open Water Certification. Blue Island Divers can also arrange special underwater moments to make your honeymoon extra memorable.
ZIPLINING WITH ALASKA CANOPY ADVENTURES
The Alaska Canopy Adventure Company in Juneau, Alaska, offers ten ziplines and two aerial suspension bridges to make for an exciting honeymoon session. During the journey, which takes a little over three hours, you and your newly wedded partner will glide from densely wooded platforms through the Alaskan rainforest, zipping over the ruins of historic gold mines and mine refineries. Alaska Canopy Adventures also has a location in Ketchikan.
HANG GLIDING AT WALLABY RANCH, FLORIDA
At Wallaby Ranch in Davenport, Fla., you can free-fly at 2,000 feet for 15-20 minutes. Offering a tandem flight option (you and an experienced flight instructor), no experience is necessary for flight. The 100-acre flight park allows for take-offs and landings in any direction. Although two individuals who have never flown cannot fly in the same glider, hang gliding would be an unforgettable shared honeymoon experience.
