Celebrity Event Designer Preston Bailey’s must-use wedding tool
By Anne Chertoff
According to Preston Bailey, who has designed events for Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, “behind every great event, there is a great tablecloth.”
The tablecloth is the canvas of each reception table and will help determine the china, flatware, glassware, table linens, stationery and, of course, floral centerpiece. To help couples find the right tablecloth design for their wedding reception, Bailey and his design team have created the Design Your Tablecloth tool where you can play with the color, texture and embellishments.
Here’s how it works:
First you choose your base color and wedding’s overall color palette. Then you select the shape of your table—round or rectangular. Next, the fabric. You can choose from taffeta, bengaline, linen and raw silk. Each fabric option has a different look and feel to it.
Then decide the pattern of your tablecloth—damask, floral, lace, geometric—and the size of the pattern. Finally you select your “Preston Factor,” which are your embellishments. You can choose from tassels, cording, crystal trimming, fringe and sequins.
Once all of your details have been selected you add your color palette. The tool allows you to choose any of the four colors in your initial palette selection.
And speaking of color palettes, the site also has a Color Palette Tool to help you select the perfect colors for your wedding. Click here to try What’s Your Color Story? The Color Palette Picker.
After you’ve found a tablecloth design you like share it with your vendors or bridal party and print it out and add it to your wedding organizer to bring with you to your next florist appointment.
