December 29 is marked on many couples’ calendars this year—it’s the day that same-sex marriage will begin to be legally recognized in the state of Maine.
However, because the 29th lands on a Saturday, there is a chance that not all town halls will be open to obtain a marriage license, leaving Monday, December 31, New Year’s Eve, the day many will be saying “I do.”

Whether your timing it perfectly to exchange vows when the clock tolls 12:00 or plan to say “I do” early and party in 2013, a New Year’s Eve celebration lends itself to a luxe look. We scoured our favorite wedding blogs and put together a wedding inspiration board filled with glittering, sparkling ideas:
(Top left, middle, bottom left) Go small or go big, you can never go wrong with glitter. (Top right) Metallic and purple ribbon add a festive flair to areas. Recreate this look on the DJ booth, dessert buffet or bar. (Bottom right) A lovely winter bouquet of white roses, grey-blue lamb’s ear with a touch of sparkle.
(Top left, bottom left) Add a touch of New Year’s Eve sparkle to your wedding ensemble with glittering shoes or shrug. (Top right) Metallics get toned down with vibrant pink-and-orange centerpieces and place settings. (Bottom left) A simple tiered buttercream cake gets sparkling seasonal flair with embellishments.
Go gold (or silver!).Gilded frames and chairs and sequined hats are perfect photo props for capturing those moments leading up to “I do” and 2013.
