Today Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia filed a federal class action lawsuit seeking the freedom to marry in Virginia.
No state in the south currently allows or respects marriages of same-sex couples — it is time for that to change! We don’t want a country so divided by unfairness that simply crossing a state line puts your family at risk. This is one country, and same-sex couples and their families should be treated fairly from north to south and east to west.

In Virginia, our two plaintiff couples include a military veteran and lifelong Virginians, and they are leading a unique class-action lawsuit that seeks to represent all same-sex couples in Virginia who wish to marry or have their marriages respected in the place they call home.
