Missouri Circuit Court Judge J. Dale Youngs ruled Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, that marriages between same-sex couples legally performed in other states must be respected in the show me state of Missouri. The ruling is the 41st ruling in favor of the freedom to marry since June 2013, when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the core of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act. (Source: Freedom to Marry)
While this isn’t an all-out ruling for marriage equality as LGBTQ Missouri residents will have to leave their state to obtain a marriage certificate for their same-sex marriage, their state now recognizing their marriage is an enormous step forward.
