Melissa and Deliece are joint co-founders of Dhalia Events. Our foundation is built on understanding the voice of the underrepresented not just in the wedding industry but in daily life.
About Deliece: I am Afro-Caribbean immigrant in a mixed race marriage with mixed children. Identity and respect for one’s identity is embedded in how I interact with others in personal life, and even more so in how I celebrate love with our couples. I have dedicated my professional career to advancing and improving the experiences of underrepresented individuals through my past work as a Chief Diversity Officer and I am pleased to bring that to our couples through our wedding planning work. I firmly believe that everyone deserves not only a shot a love but a shot at a phenomenal experience planning their love-celebrations and I welcome the opportunity to go on that ride with our couples!
Melissa: I am the daughter of immigrants and have deeply cherished my unique experience as a Hispanic woman in America. I deeply understand the challenges faced by minority individuals and couples because their experiences mirror my own, not just in the wedding industry but throughout my career and life as well. I value the opportunity to help couples say “I Do”, and honor the chance to especially support those who have been challenged to do so in the past.
In addition to their Planning services, both Melissa and Deliece dedicate their time as board members of the Wedding International Professionals Association. Melissa is a local chapter Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in NY and Deliece serves on the International WIPA board as Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
