Traditionally, engaged couples have included items like fancy china plates, silverware service for eight and Kitchen Aid mixers on their wedding registry. While these items are certainly useful and there is nothing wrong with adding them to your registry, some modern couples are thinking outside of the wedding present box and adding more unusual, fun and unconventional ideas to their wish list. For example, consider the following five ideas:
Barbecue Grill and Accessories
If you love the taste of a burger or steak kebab grilled over an open flame, you might want to consider registering for a barbecue grill and some related accessories. As The Knot notes, a new shiny grill will help newlyweds spend more time outside making their own meals, and it can also be a great way to cook for a crowd. From smaller hibachis for couples who have a small patio to larger gas grills for those with a bigger outside space, there are a variety of sizes and styles of BBQs that all make for outstanding wedding gift selections.
Wine and Other Spirits
As Huffington Post notes, if you and your beloved are fans of fine wines, why not add some to your registry? You could request a vintage or brand that you normally cannot afford, or just several bottles of your favorite type of vino. If you enjoy other types of spirits like scotch or whiskey, consider including a bottle or two on your registry. Then, at the end of a long day, you and your spouse can sit back and enjoy a relaxing glass of wine while thinking fondly of the person who gave it to you.
Tablets
If your cell phone is cracked and damaged and your laptop is outdated, consider adding a new tablet to your registry. If you are planning a scenic honeymoon, a tablet is perfect for traveling because it is larger than a smartphone but smaller than a laptop. You can download books, movies and games for the plane, and you can use it to post pictures and keep everyone updated on your honeymoon and newlywed life.
Christmas Decorations
Do you adore Christmas and all of the trimmings that go with it? If so, consider adding some holiday decorations to your wedding registry. Thanks to the magic of the Internet, many companies like Christmas Ltd. sell holiday items all year long. If you are dreaming of a white Christmas with your new spouse with plenty of snowflake lights, inflatable Santas and balsam wreaths, add some or all of these to your wedding registry. Chances are good another holiday fan will love to give these to you.
Games
If you and your spouse-to-be like to spend quiet evenings at home playing different types of board games, be sure to include some new games on your wedding gift wish list. If space allows it, you also could register for a ping-pong table, a billiards table or even an indoor basketball hoop. If you enjoy outside games, register for a croquet set, which you can use either in your own yard or at a local park, a couple of badminton rackets and a set of birdies or tennis rackets and a gift certificate for lessons at the local club.
