Your wedding photographer is the most important vendor you hire. He or she will be with you all day—literally in your face—and capturing all the moments of your wedding. Remember that your wedding photos will be one of the few tangible items from your wedding that you’ll have, besides your partner.
It’s important that you meet with several potential photographers and see their portfolio. Make sure you feel comfortable around him or her and that you can afford them. I asked wedding photographer Cappy Hotchkiss to share some advice for couples still searching for their wedding photographer. Here’s what she had to say:
Go with your gut. | |
Don’t hire someone just because they’re inexpensive.
Hire someone you trust and who has a good reputation.
Do not feel like you have to have two photographers and two videographers—that’s a lot of people up in your face.
Make sure the photographer you hire has back-up equipment.
If you hire a documentary photographer, don’t ask them to do tons of portraits—let them do what they do best, and vice versa. |
