The Garden Stateโs General Assembly plans to gauge Democratic marriage equality support by a show of hands, nj.com reports.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie
While both houses called it a top priority, Speaker Sheila Oliver said it would be the first time Assembly Democrats have been canvassed.
Any gay marriage billโwhich needs 41 Assembly votes to passโfaces New Jersey Gov. Chris Christieโs inevitable veto. There are enough Assembly Democrats to pass the legislation with no GOP support. However, not all Democrats champion the bill.
Only about half the votesโ21 to be exactโare needed to secure New Jersey Senate passage. Assembly and Senate committees sent the bill to the floor. A vote could happen next week.
