Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang just gave Chick-fil-A the ol’ heave-ho after the Atlanta-based corporation announced their opposition to marriage equality last week.
The Jim Henson Company was just days away from a massive partnership with the fast food chain that would have offered Creature Shop toys in kids’ meals over the next two months. However, thanks to CEO Dan Cathy’s “Guilty as charged” statement, the Jim Henson Company is putting that money to much better use, announcing on their Facebook:
“The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over 50 years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD.”
This is the second huge blow that the company has faced as a consequence of their stance. Boston mayor Thomas Menino announced last week that he would ensure that Chick-fil-A didn’t open another restaurant in his city.
