Earlier this year, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) launched a contest. Five lucky couples, who wouldn’t be able to get married in their home states due to same-sex marriage bans, would be lucky enough to win $5,000 towards their dream wedding—in a state that allowed it. The contest, called My Big Gay (Il)legal Wedding, has announced the winners—and another contest, in five lucky individuals will win a paid trip to New York City to celebrate with the winning couples.
To enter, all you need to do is sign the collective wedding guestbook on the ACLU website. This will be delivered to the lawmakers of the couples’ home states and calling for the freedom to marry.
ACLU has also partnered with the Upright Citizens Brigade to produce a video, “Six Ways to Crash a Wedding.” The short clip provides a humorous yet touching commentary on the subject of marriage equality and what weddings are really about, which is love.
You can enter the contest here. Good luck!
