Jeff Robertson and Jeremiah Pyant are one of five couples who won their dream wedding!
Our very own Equally Wed alums, Jeff Robertson and Jeremiah Pyant, are one of five couples to have won the My Big Gay (Il)legal Wedding contest! Sponsored by the ACLU and hosted by Tim Gunn, My Big Gay (Il)legal Wedding asked people to vote for same-sex couples who had plans to be married, but couldn’t be legally wed in their home state due to bans on same-sex marriages. The winners would get $5,000 towards their dream wedding in a nearby state that does allow same-sex marriage.
Jeff and Jeremiah, who live in Texas, plan to travel across the state line to New Mexico. “We plan to use the $5,000 to travel to El Paso,” stated Jeff. “We’ll ferry a hot air balloon over the state line and have our officiant legally wed us thousands of feet above New Mexico. Once landed safely in New Mexico, we plan to celebrate with a champagne toast with family and friends.”
The happy couple will be tying the knot sometime during the week of April 29.
Jeff continued, “This contest was fitting for us because it describes our daily lives Jeremiah is a flight attendant and daily he flies from state to state, meaning our marriage status is forever changing. One moment we are legally recognized and completely void the next.”
The couple got engaged last year, after Jeff popped the question with a surprise trip to Riveria Maya in Mexico. Jeremiah had no idea it was coming, and the story is brilliant. Read their engagement story here!
Congratulations, guys! We couldn’t be happier for you.
