Grand Jour’s story began in 2019 when filmmaker and photographer Simon Bonneau relocated to Asheville, North Carolina from his home near Nantes, France.
Simon attended film school in Nantes with a focus in cinematography and soon after he began touring as a videographer and photographer with musicians. Aside from running Grand Jour, Simon also works on music videos, documentaries, brands identity, and street photography.
Grand Jour is French for “big day” and was started to document life’s big moments so that they may exist eternally as digital heirlooms. While the majority of our work encompasses weddings, we will capture any of your big days and are not bound by a specific formula or type of event. Whether it’s your wedding, a new addition to your family, or a legacy you want documentation of, we want to help.

It only takes one click on any of Simon’s videos to see the talent and vision that he has for videography. Each production is like a movie with a plot, perfectly paired music, and stunning visual interest. My wife and I had introductory conversations with several videographers while planning our wedding in Asheville, and Simon completely stood apart from the rest. Not only does he produce moving works of art with his films, but he is humble and easy-going, and he felt like an old friend. That’s the type of connection we were looking for, and that was precisely the experience we had with Simon throughout both our engagement session and our wedding.
The videos he produced were breathtaking. As we shared the videos with our family and friends, the overwhelming opinion was that they were the quality of a big screen movie. With Simon‘s talent sewing together moments and experiences throughout our wedding, he gave us the gift of reliving these magical memories. We couldn’t recommend Simon enough!!!
