Tommy and Kyle were both members of the award-winning all-male a cappella group, the Boston University Dear Abbeys. On the 20th anniversary show, alumni returned to Beantown to perform in front of approximately 700 people. But that wasn’t the highlight of the night …

On Saturday August 13, 2011, a crowd of 1,700 audience members witnessed the first gay proposal at Priscilla Queen of the Desert between Yuri Rodriguez and Stephen Troiano.

The stories from “Standing on the Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays,” a 90-minute collection of monologues and shorts which delves into the dynamics of gay marriage with wit and warmth, were brought to reality with a real-life proposal following the last act Friday evening (and Equally Wed was there!).

At a Mariah Carey concert in Las Vegas, a fan received the ultimate surprise when he took the stage to meet his musical idol and had his boyfriend get down on one knee. Mimi even celebrated the happy couple with a booty-shaking Champagne toast.

Another Priscilla proposal, this time orchestrated with the help of Yahoo’s Ultimate Proposal
