After many hours of heated debate, Argentina’s Senate approved a same-sex marriage bill early this morning by a vote of 33-27. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is expected to sign gay marriage into law soon, making Argentina the first Latin American country to allow same-sex marriage.
