A one-time gay marriage opponent champions a proposed New Jersey gay marriage law. State Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-Monmouth (pictured), voted against marriage equality two years ago, The Auditor and Star-Ledger report.
Beck will vote for and co-sponsor the bill, while supporting efforts to override N.J. Gov. Chris Christie’s inevitable veto. State Sens. Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, and Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) are the bill’s chief sponsors.
Lesniak didn’t say when the bill would be introduced. If passed, it would require a two-thirds majority vote in the state Senate to override Christie’s more than possible veto. Of course, it would have to get out of the state Assembly and override Christie’s veto as well.
