File it under “any attention is good attention.” Eldest daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, teen mother and reality TV star Bristol Palin has claimed that Glee’s alleged homosexual propaganda poisoned First Children Sasha and Malia Obama’s minds, and has stirred the public into a frenzy.
“Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee,” Palin wrote in a blog post.
Her claim that they manipulated President Barack Obama into pledging his support for marriage equality prompted some death threats, according to Politico and another Palin blog post.
“People claim they’re just trying to protect the right of two people to love each other – a right I don’t contest, by the way – and then spew the worst words imaginable at someone they disagree with,” Palin wrote. “If the agenda is love, why do you hate so intensely?”
Palin shared an example of the wrath she brought upon herself.
“You all, including your son, deserve a slow, painful and miserable death,” one commenter wrote. “Your backwards thinking is so sad because the world is moving forward and you will certainly be left behind. May death be upon you.”
The bad press about her pontifications has left Palin completely baffled.
“You see arguments like that all the time in political magazines,” she writes. “It’s not a big deal, and the people who make arguments like that don’t stir up much controversy.”
Even as Palin decries the negative vibes, she remains focused on her “career” as a conversation piece.
“When real pundits write blog posts, they don’t pop up in Us Weekly… but mine do,” she wrote. “And I’m glad. Why? Because pop culture needs a little bit of debate.”
