If youโre looking for a way to make a serious statement on your wedding dayโnot just about your love, but the state of marriage equality in generalโthen check out wedding bands by up-and-coming jewelry company Proposition Love. The company creates wedding rings, fashion rings, pendants and bracelets inspired by the fight for marriage equality and gay rights. โ[I] got married in California just five days before Proposition 8 was passed,โ says founder Sam Street. โIt devastated us to know that other people wouldnโt be able to get married because of this measure.โ Unenthused by traditional wedding bands, Street and his partner used their backgrounds in jewelry to start Proposition Love.

Proposition Love is more than just a safe place for same-sex couples to buy wedding bandsโa portion of the proceeds from each sale goes to organizations that support LGBT rights and marriage equality. Many of the designs incorporate the use of a triangle, a symbol of the gay rights movement throughout history. โThe symbol has been lost over time,โ says Street โthe community isnโt as active as we could or should be.โ The company also has the Countdown Collection, a collection of rings designed for each state that has passed the marriage equality bill, ranging in price from $310-$900.
