Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner signed the new same-sex marriage bill into law yesterday, officially making Argentina the first Latin American country to provide full marital rights to gays and lesbians. The first gay marriage ceremony is scheduled for August 13 in the capital city of Buenoes Aries. Reflecting its support for gay marriage in Latin America, the tourism board of Mexico City (the first Latin American city to allow gay marriage) has promised free honeymoon to the first same-sex couple to be legally wed in Argentina.
