Carolina + Eli: family photo session cover for surprise marriage proposal

Carolina told Eli that she had booked a family photo session, and the session date just happened to fall on their two-year anniversary. Eli was under the impression that this was just a typical photo shoot, not knowing the surprise that Carolina had planned! A stormy forecast almost threw off the plans, but we were able to make some last minute time and location changes, and met up at Manassas Battlefield before the rain started.

We started off like a normal family session with pictures of everyone, but Carolina and I had discussed beforehand what pose would be the cue for proposal time. I had them stand back to back for a picture, and then asked them to take a few steps apart. As Eli started to walk away, Carolina dropped down to one knee. Eli was so surprised, and the kids (who were in on the plan) were super excited. They ran right up to give Carolina and Eli some giant hugs! And we still had a bit more time to explore Manassas Battlefield afterwards before the storms rolled in, so were able to get plenty of photos with Eli rocking her new bling!—Megan Rei, Megan Rei Photography
