The Roaring ‘20s was an era of excitement and rebellion. Speakeasies and bootleggers proved Prohibition would not prosper, women ditched the corsets and showed a little leg with flirty flapper dresses and weddings were much more focused on the party aspect than the formality. It was also a high time in the LGBT community, especially in large cities such as New York City. Dubbed as the “Pansy Balls,” cross-dressing queens performed to standing ovations and quickly became the epitome of the gay old New York, making the city a prominent scene on the circuit long before Stonewall.
The decade is chock full of inspiration, and our friends at TresSugar have put together a slideshow filled with details for your big day.

Pin curls and romantic brooch-turned-comb hairpiece have a beautiful vintage allure to them.

Dress your ‘maids in flapper-style dresses, with embellishments such as lace and feathers.

Dress your guestbook tables and centerpieces in Roaring ’20s knickknacks such as mannequins with bucket hats, perfume bottles, pearls, old portaits, feathers and glass decanters.

Guests will love dainty cupcakes and macarons, displayed in beautiful 1920s-inspired surroundings. Or have fun with quirky moustache cookies (great for photo ops!).
