By Anne Chertoff

Debuting this week (Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EST) is Sweet Genius, a new food competition series, which has the country’s top pastry chefs competing to create inventive desserts with surprise ingredients, specific inspiration and a limited amount of time.
The chefs will compete in three unique pastry challenges judged by Ron Ben-Israel, who designed the over-the-top, Swarovski-crystal embellished cake for Sex & the City 2 and last year created a red cake for the wedding of Carmello Anthony to Lala Vazquez. The winner of the competition will receive a $10,000 cash prize.
The show will be both inspirational for brides and grooms looking to add some creativity to the dessert portion of their wedding menu. Set your DVR now.
