Planning an LGBTQ+ wedding in Pennsylvania? Consider Drumore Estate. Located in Pequea, a short drive from Lancaster, the versatile venue offers beautiful grounds, formal gardens, fountains, spacious patios and a grand tent as well as indoor climate-controlled venues to host your wedding ceremony and reception.
The estate building was completed in 1939, commissioned for John Frederick Steinman by noted architect Robert Rodes McGoodwin. Steinman wanted to have a stone house on a hill, and Drumore delivers with a gorgeous view of both Lancaster City and the Susquehanna River. After being vacant for 20 years, Drumore Estate was purchased by Bill and Karyn Regitz in 1999. The married business partners renovated the Georgian Mansion and formal gardens, and have continued to make improvements including the Carriage House, new patios and walkways, and parking lot.
Drumore Estate is driven by “a passion for hospitality,” says David Andresen, general manager and executive chef. “We want you and your guests to feel like family.” Centering on you and your vision is the Drumore Estates’ wedding team. All packages include an experienced event planner, event day facilitator and event manager. “We are here to help with everything, from planning the details to the set-up to ensuring the day runs smoothly and on schedule to the tear-down and packing up. All you and your family have to do is relax and enjoy your special day!”
Couples can take advantage of the in-house catering services. The executive chef loves creating custom menus for weddings. You can also choose from the extensive menus to suit your theme, palate and budget. Packages include experienced servers, bartenders and all china, glassware, utensils, tables, linens and chairs. You also have the option of buffets, stations, sit-down dinners, or cocktail receptions. All of these accompaniments help bring your vision to life. To “kick it up a notch,” Andresen says they offer additional amenities including chandeliers, special lighting and sound, tent liners and draping, specialty furniture, arbors, firepits, games and more.
Marriers can enjoy either an indoor or outdoor wedding at Drumore Estate (and if it rains, switching from outdoors to indoors is an option). The indoor spaces include the Carriage House, which features a working fireplace and options including lighting and sound packages. “Our Orangery is a beautiful space perfect for smaller events and ceremonies,” adds Andresen.
Whether your wedding guest list is for 20 or 400, Drumore Estate can accommodate you. “We are zoned for up to 400 outdoors under tents,” says Andresen. “The Orangery accommodates 80 and the Carriage House 150 with a dance floor. There is a patio adjacent to the Carriage House that can be tented.” In addition to Drumore’s seasonal venue rental options, it also offers elopement and microwedding packages. Versatility, indeed!
On an average year (the pandemic aside), Drumore Estate hosts between 60 and 80 events. For wedding days, the marrying couple has exclusive use of the property for 12 hours, guaranteeing no one else is getting married on the grounds on the same day. The staff is experienced with LGBTQ+ weddings, and looks forward to many more.
