The place to see and be seen on Thursday, September 13, will be at the James Hotel in New York City. Marylanders for Marriage Equality recently announced the star-studded fundraising banquet with the A-list guest list reading of names such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, Julianne Moore, Sean Avery, Barbara Bush, Thom Browne, Andy Cohen, Russell Simmons, Edward Norton, Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley and more.
Tickets for this high-profile equality push range from $250 a person to a $25,000 table with proceeds going toward campaigning for same-sex marriage in Maryland. No state has yet to uphold marriage equality at the ballot box, but polling shows that Marylanders are in favor of being the first.
“The two biggest factors for us this year are that it’s 2012, and public attitudes have continued to evolve,” said Josh Levin, the director of Marylanders for Marriage Equality. “When the president talked about how his position has evolved over the course of some years, there are a lot of people for whom that’s the case.”
