In what could be considered a preemptive strike against the possibility of Judge Vaughn Walker ruling in favor of equality, attorneys defending Proposition 8 filed a motion last night requesting Judge Walker grant a stay pending appeal should he rule in favor of gay marriage. A stay would effectively prohibit any legally recognized marriages between gays and lesbians until the decision is appealed in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
