Delaware state Sen. Karen Peterson and her partner, Vikki Bandy, became the first legally married same-sex couple in Delaware on Monday, July 1.
The second-floor chamber where the women, together for 24 years, took their vows was filled with about 40 friends and supporters as Ken Boulden, New Castle County clerk of the peace, said: “So by the power vested in me, … I pronounce you legally married under the laws of the state of Delaware.”
