Snuggling on the couch with your sweetie while watching a favorite television show is a perfect way to spend quality time together. Connections to hits like Glee become stronger as you find your own relationship growing while watching Kurt and Blaine fall head over stylish heels in love. To incorporate that special bond into your big day, a themed engagement photo shoot can perfectly (and creatively!) display its importance to family and friends.

(Plus, we’re stoked about Glee‘s spring premier tonight!)

THE SETTING

Have a mutual love for showtunes? Tap into your inner Rachel Berry and get into the spotlight, literally. Check out a local high school and see if they’ll grant you access to their amenities. The theater stage, an empty classroom or the hallways lined with lockers would be perfect backdrops. Your local community theater would work well to stage those more performance-centered shoots. For a more song specific setting, the steps of a local library or park would be great to embody the Somewhere Only We Know moments.

OUTFITS

We’re huge Gleeks here at Equally Wed, but as much as we love the characters’ exact style, each look should be interpreted to work for you and your main squeeze.

Rag and Bone revealed the Bromley Blazer ($495) as part of their women’s 2012 collection, a dashing navy blue blazer with red trimming that is eerily similar to heartthrob Blaine’s private school days’ ensemble. To correspond to Blaine’s current fashionable freedom, try a Polo Ralph Lauren sweater vest ($79.50), or a D&G polka-dotted bow tie ($170) from their 2012 men’s accessory line. Boyfriend Kurt takes many more fashion risks in his wardrobe choices, most often seen wearing bright colors, scarves and hats. D&G 2012 men’s accessory line also revealed a savvy paisley patterned hat ($245) which would be perfectly represent Kurt’s flare without duplication. Louis Vuitton’s Lezard Stole ($860) or trendy 2012 Prada white leather shoes (available on the Raffaello Network for $525) would be great fashion accents.

Cheerleader bombshells Brittany and Santana have developed a deep relationship in the current season. This spring 2012 Zac Posen red dress (available at net-a-porter.com for $3,400) would be great to parallel the Glee cheerleading look because of the pleating and the modest neckline. Louis Vuitton’s 2012 Slalom leather sneakers ($660) and the Gucci’s white wedge ($575) resemble the girl’s cheerleading shoes. Both Brittany and Santana usually wear high ponytails, but try adding personal pizazz by wearing an accessory like this flower hair clip by Petit Plume (available at Ruche for $22.99).

For a dose of high school nostalgia, earn your letter in couture by pairing your engagement shoot ensemble with a varsity jacket, a look that graced several menswear Spring/Summer 2012 runways, with options from Rugby Ralph Lauren (Wollast Varsity Jacket, $168), Alexander McQueen (Logo Varsity Jacket, $385) and Tommy Hilfiger (Varsity Jacket, $598).

PROPS

To save time and money, turn your engagement shoot into a save-the-date session. Use school-inspired props to let loved ones know of the big day: textbooks turned to pages with the dates scripted on them, music sheets displaying the day and time dotted along the staff, your wedding date scribbled across a chalkboard, a close-up shot of an old-fashioned love note with the destined date being passed between the two of you (check yes or no!), or cheerleading signs announcing when and where the big moment will be.
