One of the hardest things to deal with when planning a wedding is the thought that a loved one–a parent, a grandparent, a best friend–won’t be present on your special day. It’s important to keep their spirit with you on your wedding day, so here are a few ideas on how to tastefully and meaningfully remember those who have passed.
NATURAL PHOTO FRAME
If the style of your wedding is a little more outdoorsy or organic, display an old window frame and place your loved ones’ photos on twine or ribbon. You can write a special message or label the photos with names.
CLASSY TABLE DISPLAY
At the entrance or near the gift table, you can place a display of photographs in silver frames with candles. Perhaps include some of your relative’s favorite flowers or meaningful keepsakes.
KIND WORDS
Many couples choose to offer a message on the back of their program to honor those who aren’t with them on their big day. You can list their names, print a few words of remembrance, or quote a poem.
PHOTO CHARMS
If you want to keep a special someone’s smiling face with you, try photo charms. For brides, you can attach them to your bouquets. For grooms or butch brides, keep them in your pockets or incorporate tiny photos into your boutonniere. It’s an intimate, small way to keep their love close to your heart.
A TASTE OF LOVE
Maybe your Nana was an excellent baker, or your Grandpa loved homemade biscuits. You can opt to serve items that represent a loved one you want to remember. Or create a special display with that person’s favorite sweet treats for snacking during the dancing portion of the celebrations.
