In case you haven’t been keeping up with the National Organization for Marriage’s (NOM) Summer for Marriage Tour, the marriage equality foes traveled to Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana last week, spreading their convoluted message of hate. The Courage Campaign and Freedom to Marry have done an excellent job documenting the dismal turnout of NOM supporters as well as more successful counter-protests such as this one, which was held by equality-promoting One Iowa on Sunday in Des Moines.
Disturbingly, the Courage Campaign and Freedom to Marry have also captured the spirit in which NOM’s supporters are expressing their intolerance of gays and lesbians. At a rally in Indianapolis last Monday one NOM supporter held a sign depicting two nooses as the “Solution for Gay Marriage.” Freedom to Marry has called on NOM to “immediately denounce these tactics and the harm you are doing to gay and lesbian families and the national conversation around marriage.”
You can join Freedom to Marry in telling NOM to stop the hate by signing this petition.
