British Olympic diver Tom Daley married his partner, film director and screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black over the weekend. Daley, 22, and Black, 42, shared photos on Instagram from their Bovey Castle wedding castle in Devon, England.

Despite having been engaged since late 2015, fans were surprised by the nuptials as Daley had Instagrammed from a hospital bed just two days prior to the wedding.  Despite recovering from a hip operation on Thursday, Daley was ready for his walk down the aisle.

The wedding ceremony took place outdoors, with Daley in a purple Burberry suit and Black in a navy one. It has been reported that the London Gay Men’s Chorus performed at the wedding.

So… what did you do this weekend?

Same-sex marriage has been legal in England in Wales since 2013, however  that didn’t stop this wonderful couple and beautiful ceremony from being met with discrimination. Major British Tabloid Daily titled their article, “Tom Daley, 22, and Dustin Lance Black, 42, ‘MARRY’ in romantic Romeo and Juliet ceremony.” People were quick to call out the tabloid for putting quotations around the word marry, which the tabloid does not do for cisgender, heterosexual couples.
